Siemens Announces Powerful Personal Productivity Tools For HiPath Communication Platforms

HiPath SimplyPhone Personal Call Management Software And HiPath Xpressions Unified Messaging Solution Illustrate The Payoff Of Voice Over IP

VOICECON, Washington, D.C - February 25, 2002 — Siemens Enterprise Networks LLC, a subsidiary of Siemens AG (NYSE: SI), announced at VoiceCon 2002 the addition of two powerful new personal productivity tools to its HiPath™ enterprise convergence portfolio. These products, which include the new HiPath SimplyPhone personal call management software and the enhanced HiPath Xpressions unified messaging solution, illustrate the power of IP (Internet Protocol) convergence that can be harnessed by businesses of all sizes today.

Users of HiPath SimplyPhone personal call management software can dial telephone numbers by simply clicking on names in a company directory, Microsoft Outlook, Lotus Notes, or an Internet browser. In addition, call information can be recorded automatically in a call journal. Screen pops (dialog boxes on the PC screen) appear with the telephone number or name of incoming callers. HiPath SimplyPhone call management software also provides automated entry of client matter code information: This feature is designed to facilitate record-keeping for professionals who bill by the hour.

The HiPath™ Xpressions™ unified messaging solution makes voice, fax and e-mail messages accessible by both PC and telephone. Users can listen to voice messages in their e-mail and have e-mail messages read to them via telephone, for example. Messages can also be filtered to enable users to select only certain senders, subjects or levels of priority. Now in its third generation, the award-winning HiPath Xpressions unified messaging solution now also features the choice of unified or integrated message store, a differentiator of particular relevance to multinational corporations. Starting in March 2002, the HiPath Xpressions unified messaging solution can be integrated with Lotus Domino servers and Lotus Notes clients.

"From my perspective, Siemens is ready for prime time. They are clearly on the cutting edge of unified communications, and their IP convergence strategy is significant, even compelling," said Stephen M. Leaden, president of Leaden Associates, Inc. "They have listened to consultants, analysts, customers and the marketplace, and have developed and positioned their product portfolio to fit the direction the market is moving. Their timing is excellent," Leaden continued.

Earlier this month, Siemens announced new and enhanced communications platforms and telephones making its entire enterprise convergence portfolio -- including platforms, telephones, applications and services -- ready for IP convergence today.
